Anthony Bourdain’s most exciting travel destinations!

Anthony Bourdain was a celebrated celebrity chef who was passionate about traveling the world in order to discover new food flavors and to learn new recipes. Bourdain was best known for his travel-themed cooking shows Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown and Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. To discover some of the most interesting locales which Bourdain visited to shoot episodes of his TV series, simply continue reading. Anthony Bourdain’s most exciting travel destinations:

1. Tokyo, Japan –  When Bourdain visited Tokyo, Japan, he filmed in a cafe where guests where served by robot waiters. If you have any interest in being served authentic Japanese cuisine by friendly robot waiters, it’s well worth following in Bourdain’s footsteps and booking a plane ticket to Tokyo.

2. Malaysia – Bourdain visited Malaysia due to his passion for fusion cooking as Bourdain wanted to learn how to combine western ingredients and cooking techniques with Malaysian ingredients and cooking techniques. In Malaysia, Chef Wan guides Bourdain through a floating market in order to purchase fresh ingredients to prepare a scrumptious seafood dish.

3. Sicily, Italy – In Sicily Bourdain showed his viewers where to find the best cannoli in all of Italy and embraced his wild side by jumping off an imposing sea cliff.

4. Brittany, France – Bourdain also filmed an episode in Brittany, which is located in northern France. In this episode, Bourdain got to sample a wide array of scrumptious French treats such as crepes, oysters and apple cider.

5. Dubai – While in Dubai, Bourdain got to enjoy a bit of fine dining at a few of Dubai’s most exclusive restaurants before dining with a few young sheiks, who were happy to share their stories about everyday life in Dubai with Bourdain and his viewers. For a contrast, Bourdain also shared a meal with some foreign workers, who choose to work in Dubai, often for little money, in order to support their family members in their impoverished home countries.

6. Ecuador-  Bourdain proved that he has no reservations when he was brave enough to feast on a guinea pig, during a trip to a popular street market.

7. Rome, Italy – While in Rome Bourdain encourages his viewers to do as the Romans do and to indulge in traditional fare such as artisan pizza and cheese. This particular episode is unique as Bourdain chose to film it in black and white as an ode to the classic Italian film “La Dolce Vita”.

8. Haiti – Bourdain visited Haiti not only to learn how to cook traditional Haitian fare but also to volunteer at a relief camp which was set up after the 2010 earthquake which struck Haiti.

Destinations which Anthony Bourdain didn’t get a chance to film in:

1. Costa Rica – While Bourdain had plans to film a new episode in Costa Rica, unfortunately, if you’re searching for Anthony Bourdain Costa Rica episodes, you’re out of luck as Bourdain committed suicide before he was able to shoot an episode of Parts Unknown or No Reservations in Costa Rica.

So what are you waiting for? There’s no better time than the present to rewatch old Anthony Bourdain episodes and to start thinking about your next overseas trip.

The history behind the punk rock band The Sonics

Whether you’re a fan of The Sonics’ classic hits or their more recent tracks, continue reading to discover a bit of information about the history of The Sonics.

The history behind The Sonics:

1. The Sonics were founded by a high school kid. You may be surprised to discover that the band The Sonics was founded in 1960 by Larry Parypa, a young high school kid, who was passionate about playing the guitar.

2. The Sonics were originally a garage band. Larry Parypa and his original bandmates Mitch Jaber and Stuart Turner practiced their tracks in Parypa’s garage.

3. Two of Larry’s brothers were part of The Sonics for a short period of time. While Larry was still in high school and The Sonics were yet to make it big, two of his brothers played for The Sonics. Jerry Parypa played the saxophone for The Sonics and Andy Parypa was The Sonics bass player before The Sonics made it big. On a side note, Larry’s mom was known to occasionally play bass for The Sonics during rehearsals. Which really proves that The Sonics began as a family affair.

4. The Sonics original members split up when some of the members chose to attend college. After Larry and his friends graduated from high school, some of The Sonics’ original members dropped out of their high school garage band in order to attend college. While other members dropped out to join the military or to join other bands.

5. Over a dozen articles have played for The Sonics. Over the decades well over a dozen different artists have played for The Sonics. However, the only original member of The Sonics to return to the band after a hiatus was Rob Lind, who decided to return to The Sonics after serving in the military.

6. Rob Lind is still a current member of The Sonics. Rob Lind who is a vocalist who also happens to play the saxophone and harmonica, is still a current member of The Sonics, a band he was a part of way back in 1960.

The last of which was released in 2015, 55 years after The Sonics debut album “Here Are The Sonics” was released.

8. The Sonics once featured on a compilation Christmas album. You’re probably surprised to hear that The Sonics featured on the compilation Christmas album “Merry Christmas”, which was released in 1996. Especially as The Sonics are known as being a punk rock band and most people don’t immediately associate punk rock as a genre with Christmas albums.

9. The Sonics have inspired a wide array of artists. Bruce Springsteen has admitted that he was inspired by The Sonics. As did the deceased frontman of the band Nirvana, Kurt Cobain. Which isn’t surprising when you remember that The Sonics have been around since 1960!
