Getting married outside was something which we had always dreamed of but to be honest, it was a lot more stressful than we had envisaged. Despite this stress and despite the madness which took place before we actually got hitched, this is still something which I loved and which I have no doubt that you are going to love as well. There is just something so much more special about being in the open air, standing in front of your family and your friends and telling them that you are going to spend the rest of your life together.
Based on this experience however I want to share some tips with you on things that you mustn’t forget for your outdoor wedding.
Toilets
It was only because of the brilliant Diamond Environmental Services that we managed to provide enough toilets for our guests. We did get married outside of a venue and we wrongly assumed that they were going to allow us to use the bathrooms inside. Sadly however they told us at the 11th hour that his would not be the case and so we had a mad rush to get some high quality bathrooms which the guests could use. Always be sure that you have the bathroom situation covered.
Power Test
Regarding power we were going to be using a DJ set up as well as lighting throughout the marquee. To power all of this we had a generator which looked to be enough for what we needed. Thankfully the DJ came to do a test two days before the wedding, to ensure that the sound was right and that the equipment worked well. It was at this moment that we realized that the power just wasn’t strong enough to keep everything running all night, and so we had to buy another, much larger generator.
Check The Weather
Now this was one thing which we didn’t forget to do but a friend of ours did before her wedding. To her credit the area where she got married very rarely saw rain, but as luck would have it did rain on the day of her wedding. The issue wasn’t so much the rain, because they were inside a tent, the problem that ensued was that the grass began to get wet and the form puddles, and there were not walkways put in place for the guests. They did manage to resolve the issue but the last thing you want on your wedding day is something like this taking place.
Permits
And finally just ensure that you have paid for all of the necessary permits for this kind of wedding. If you are doing it at a venue then this should be taken care of, but if you are doing it elsewhere you’ll need permits for being there, for the use of power and for the playing of music, possibly also for alcoholic beverages.
Be sure not to forget these things before the big day.
