The trumpet was invented all the way back in 1000 AD, and the fact that many songs and bands in the modern era still incorporate the trumpet speaks to its versatility and staying power.

Now, this entry really should surprise anybody. The piano is one of the most loved and most popular sounds in music history, even if it is from mostly classical roots.
